Generally speaking, by talking to an independent agent. You don't want one that works for one company with the "One size fits all " thinking. You want an independent that can get your needs, your information, and then check his data base of multiple companies to find one that fits your needs.

Any insurance company can claim they have the best quote on their insurance. However there are a few things to conceder. Your age, you past driving history etc..Be prepared to tell your insurance claims adjuster the whole story. then ask around for a better quote. Places like "progressive.com can save you money, but if you fall into that "common " or "gray " area. You may not save as much as you had hoped for. Also it depends on what type of car you drive, how far you drive and even where you live can determine your insurance rate.

Honestly internet auto insurance quotes are so far off and most will direct you to a live agent anyway. All you have to do is call up an insurance agency and get the quotes direct. Give them your licenses number, the licenses number of whoever else that will be driving, the make and model of the car and tell them how many tickets you have had, and that's that. Look in your phone book or search the web for insurance agencies. Most agencies have like 4 or more companies you can get insurance thru, I find progressive had the best deal for me. All State is high, unless you're over 35, have never been in an accident nor have any tickets.

I have Mercury because they are the cheapest for me but I would go on Progressive.com and they give you their rate plus 3 or 4 other companies' rates so it is worth a shot.

But to find a cheap price you should get several quotes, do some legwork till something better will come along.
