Question: Uk only.if i purchase car insurance online, can i drive it straight after?

Going car hunting all of thursday, will probs end up getting one at some point *crossed fingers* and will try to insure it that day if not friday.. basically if i buy it online/ on the phone will i be able to drive it away straight after or do i have to work for paperwork or anything?

It must be taxed, insured for you to drive and in possession of a valid MoT if more than 3 years old. None of these things are optional if you are to drive it on the public highway. Take a list of insurance company phone numbers, then when you decide ring 'em up and ask for immediate cover. It's worth putting a bit of time into researching with the various insurers first, you don't want to wind up buying something you then find you cannot insure.
