Question: Why are my insurance quotes outrageous?

I am trying to get a quote on a 2002 Subaru WRX 4 door sedan. The car has around 66000 miles on it. I am thinking about buying it and trying to get an idea of total mothnly payments. Every insurance website I go to is giving me crazy quotes that are around 600- 1000$ a month. I am 18 years old but I know for a fact even for an 18 year old that is alot of money for insurance. I was thinking maybe around 300 a month not over 600. Even when I quoted my current car. I drive a 1999 Honda Civic DX but it is under my parents insurance so its only like 70 a month. But if i wanted to put it in my name the quotes where like 500- 800 a month. And actually i know for a fact that those quotes are very high. Because I friends that are my age who pay no where near that price and the insurance is under their name. My friend drives a 2003 Lancer Evolution. That car is alot faster than a WRX and he pays 350 a month and he is 18. Had his license for the same amount of time and has totaled a car and got numerous speeding tickets. I havent gotten one ticket but I was in one accident but i was not at fault. |
